DUSTEX

Dustex is based on lignin, the natural binder of wood fibers in trees. Dustex is a sustainable and environmentally friendly product. Dustex effectively binds the soil particles, reduces the amount of dust generated and thus increases road safety. When Dustex is used consistently, it builds up in the road and further increases its integrity by functioning as a binder,  not only does Dustex minimize dust generation, it also holds the aggregate resulting in less road maintenance, lower aggregate costs and a higher quality road.

Dust Suppression

Natural Binder

The fine and coarse particles of an unpaved road work together to create a strong, smooth road. When fine particles in the upper layer of the road are lost as dust, the unpaved road breaks down, resulting in rutting, wash boarding and other undesirable conditions. Not only do these conditions lower safety, but the dust itself causes poor visibility and safety issues. In addition, for those who live or work along the road, dust is a serious threat to their health.

By binding the fine particles and stabilizing them in the upper layer, Dustex creates a safe unpaved road that requires less maintenance and, therefore, saves money.

Not only is Dustex an effective binder, it is sustainable and environmentally friendly. Dustex is used for a variety of dirt and gravel surfaces including, municipal roads, driveways, parking lots, bicycle lanes, trails, arenas, construction sites, quarry roads and mine roads.

FULL DEPTH RECLAMATION AND STABILIZATION

Stabilization of soils in-depth and in-situ

Recommended soil milling depth: 6-10 in (15-25 cm).

  1. Examine the road surface and determine if it is necessary to add gravel to improve its characteristics. Milling must be done while the road is not too wet when DUSTEX is added.
  2. Before applying DUSTEX, level the road with a grader and create a small berm along the edges. This helps to retain DUSTEX on the road surface.
  3. Apply the DUSTEX concentrate at the recommended rate of 1.25 gal per yd2 (5-6 liters per m2) for a milling depth of 6-10 in (15-25 cm). After application of DUSTEX, milling should occur as soon as possible to facilitate even mixing.
  4. Shape and level the road with a grader. Maintaining the thickness of the stabilized layer across the width and length of the road. Then compact with light vibration.
  5. Finally, apply a thin layer of DUSTEX diluted with water at a ratio of 1:2.

If asphalt is to be applied following stabilization, this should be done only after allowing time for the drying and curing of the DUSTEX stabilized soil.

DUSTEX APPLICATIONS

How to USe DUSTEX

Natural Binder

DUSTEX is a product that is easy to use and easy to apply. Depending on your particular needs, DUSTEX can be used in the following two ways:

  1. Surface: mainly for dust suppression. It is recommended for a quick and easy treatment to suppress dust on unpaved roads.
  2. In-depth: It is recommended for a deep stabilization of the road. This stabilisation is executed with specific milling machinery.
